HC Deb 06 June 1991 vol 192 c346W
Mr. Speller

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how many non-organophosphorous compounds for the treatment of sheeps' coats are awaiting licence approval; how long they have been awaiting approval; and when he expects to make a decision on any of these preparations.

Mr. Maclean

Two applications for product licences in respect of non-organophosphorous compounds for sheep treatment were submitted to the veterinary medicines directorate in January 1990 and August 1990 respectively. Licences are issued under the Medicines Act only once a product has been demonstrated to be safe, of sound quality, and effective. We are unable to say when decisions on determining these applications will be taken.
