HC Deb 16 March 1998 vol 308 c465W
25. Mr. Flynn

To ask the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport what proposals he has to support the Cornish language. [32894]

Mr. Banks

Cornish is of Celtic origin and has not been spoken as a living language since the 18th century and we have no current plans to promote it. However, I recognise my hon. Friend's close interest in such matters and trust he will use his customary zeal and imagination to draw wider attention to the plight of Cornish.
